Former President Olusegun Obasanjo fired a fresh salvo at President Goodluck Jonathan, on Sunday, when he looked back at the last eight years and returned with a verdict: The country had been poorly managed under Jonathan.

Keu4Success: I think we have had enough of the corrupt system. What Obasanjo said is what people should be saying to give Nigerians hope. Instead, some people are telling us how Muhammadu Buhari was delayed at the entrance into the office of David Cameron in the UK. I don’t even know how that really concerns distraught Nigerians. Is that what we should be listening to now?
Millions of Nigerians are facing serious hardship over the non-availability of fuel and power supply in the country. Rather than being consoled and assured of a better tomorrow, we hear some unserious persons saying things that people should not be listening to at the moment.
Victor: OBJ is not, in anyway, better than Jonathan. Fuel scarcity and power shortage had been there before this present government. The corrupt leaders in the PDP and the APC today were brought into power by OBJ. There was no election in Nigeria then. They were never elected by Nigerians. What is he saying now? I am not defending Jonathan but you cannot exonerate OBJ from the current woes.
Joris Bronen: If the problems had been there, even when OBJ was in power, was Jonathan not supposed to have corrected them? Why was he voted for if all he was going there to do was to continue with corruption? Before he sought election, he knew the problems were there. One expected him to have prepared to tackle them and not to continue to give excuses. Nigerians want to see results and nothing short of that. Anybody who cannot deliver has no reason seeking election. It is a corrupt system no doubt. But if you must seek election, you must prepare to deal with it and deliver results.
YK: people like Femi Fani-Kayode, Doyin Okupe, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Ayo Fayose were brought into government by OBJ. It is unfortunate that some Nigerians cannot read between the lines. I am not a fan of GEJ and never wanted him in power. But the truth should be told: OBJ is a major part of the problem Nigeria is facing. He should bury his head in shame because there is nobody he brought into public service that has been of benefit to the country. They all turned out to be corrupt people. So, what is he saying? Who gave Jonathan to Nigerians? Who foisted him on us? Was he not aware that Jonathan had no leadership capacity?
iTalk0505: At least, he removed him when he found out that the person he installed was not competent. We should leave OBJ out of the current woes and focus on those responsible for them.
Onyema: what do people mean when they say 12OBJ is lousy? Are they saying he should have kept quiet on delicate issues like corruption? Past leaders who have kept quiet want Nigeria to remain the way it is forever. We should commend OBJ for speaking out rather than castigating him. I am very glad that there is one Nigerian statesman who has refused to be silenced, and that is OBJ. Imagine if Jonathan were left alone to run the country the way he wants. What would have happened to the country and the ordinary people?
Speak with integrity: OBJ has his own imperfections. But on this issue, we should focus on the message instead of the messenger. If that is done each report that is commented on will be constructively concluded. How proactive the masses (those of us on forums like this) on national challenges? Have we been able to mobilise a ground swell of opinion to stop politicians from ripping us of? Why are we so sentimental? National issues should be addressed in the best way that will benefit everyone. Otherwise there will not be a country to leave for our children.
Jonathan mismanaged the nation over the last five years, true or false? If that is true, what have we done about it to prevent such occurrence in the immediate future?
